How to find the right wedding planner

How to find the right wedding planner

Right Wedding Planner is a huge undertaking, especially if you are a bride-to-be. On average, a wedding takes more than 100 hours of planning. This is probably more than you thought. !

The daunting task of organizing your dream day can seem overwhelming once the initial excitement of engagement has subsided.

From setting your wedding budget (and sticking with it! Through to sourcing estimates, liaising and creating your seating charts. You will need to do a lot of work in the weeks leading up to your wedding.

We can’t forget the big event itself. Who is going to help you set up your furniture, talk to suppliers and deal with any last-minute issues? Do you feel a little panicked? !

Do you require a wedding coordinator?

Is it really necessary to hire a wedding planner? You should know that wedding planners have a cost so it won’t be another expense for your big event.

A wedding planner might seem like an unnecessary luxury that you can overlook. Perhaps you think you can manage the entire wedding planning process yourself. If you have previous experience in planning events and have unlimited time, you might be right.

Take a moment to consider how you want to feel on your wedding day. Do you want to be relaxed, drinking champagne, and getting ready for the day? Or would you rather be making an emergency call to let them know that the cake has not arrived.

They have had to cope with family members disappearing or last-minute venue changes. They’ve had to deal with missing rings and unexpected guest arrivals.

It doesn’t matter what it is, wedding planners have done it many times before and are able to take it all in their stride.

A wedding planner is a cost-effective option for you. You will find that you are not as stressed about it as you think. They have years of experience managing budgets and can help with delegating your finances.

Picking the right service

You’ve made the decision to hire a planner for your wedding. Now, think about what you need.

Perhaps you need someone to look after every detail or you simply need a couple of extra hands. You can count on us to be there for you.

A majority of wedding planners will allow you to choose between two services. These include day-of coordination and full wedding planning.

These services can save your life when you are trying to make your dream come true. However, they have very different inclusions. Before you make a decision, it is important to think about what exactly you need.

Full wedding planning

If you feel overwhelmed with everything, you can hire full wedding planning. It is impossible to imagine you being able take on this daunting task alone.

This is also the best option for those who are busy with work, family commitments or simply lack time. You can also use a full-service wedding planner if your destination is out of the country or internationally.

What’s included

At the start of the wedding planning process, a full wedding planner will join you. They can assist with all aspects of the planning process, including creating and delegating your budget, creating your guest lists, organizing your invitations and tracking your RSVPs.

A consultation will be conducted by your wedding planner to get to know you and to help you decide how the day should look and feel. Then they make it happen.

This will allow you to communicate your dreams clearly to your wedding planner.

Once you have clearly defined your wedding vision, your wedding planner can start researching for you. This includes sourcing quotes and liaising to the right vendors, based on your requirements.

What isn’t included

But, hiring a full-service wedding planner doesn’t necessarily mean you have to rely on them for every task. You may have certain tasks that your wedding planner isn’t capable of handling.

A common misconception among brides is that they are both wedding planners and stylists. Planning a wedding takes a different skill set than styling one.

It is important to remember that wedding planners will handle all the details of your special day.

They are excellent communicators, organizers, delegators, and communicators. They excel at using spreadsheets and timelines. However, when it comes to the visual aspects of your wedding, such as creating a colour palette or designing a visionboard, this is a totally different role.

A majority of wedding planners will offer a styling services or be able to refer someone. So if you need styling assistance, ask them ahead.

Day of coordination

You might have already done the hard work. Now you are confident in how your planning is progressing. You have locked in your suppliers. You’ve thought about how to organize everything for the big day.

What’s included

A “Day-of” coordination service can be a great solution if you know how you want your day to go but need some help. It will do the rest for you.

Don’t forget to remind your chief bridesmaid that a wedding setup is very time-consuming, physically demanding and often involves unexpected events that need to be addressed. It’s too much pressure to place on someone who should be enjoying the day with you.

You and your family will be relieved of all the stress and responsibility by hiring a day-of coordinator for your wedding.

This is also an affordable option if you can’t afford full wedding planning services. Day-of coordination packages can be a great option for DIY brides and come at a significantly lower cost.

The day-of coordinator typically arrives around 4 weeks before the big day. This is where you meet and go through your wedding plans. You then hand your planning over to your coordinator.

What’s missing

Day-of coordination is an entirely separate service. As you can see, it is a completely different experience than hiring a full-service planner for your wedding. So make sure that your expectations are realistic.

Coordinators can handle every aspect of running the wedding day. Your coordinator should not be responsible for sourcing vendors, finding photographers at the last minute, or setting your budget.

If it isn’t related to your wedding day’s timeline or schedule, it is not relevant to the service that you have booked.

You might not include packing down for the wedding. The day-of coordinator typically clocks in after all the guests have left the venue. It might be your coordinator, not the venue, that has to clear or pack away anything.

Your coordinator might not have the ability to help you with styling tasks. All styling materials and crafting tasks should be completed before the big event.
