Beach Weddings

Nicholas La Testa and Danielle Tullo fell in love at a 2007 high school state championship. Danielle recalls that they didn’t go to the exact same school, and each had their own group of friends. “I saw Nick and asked a friend to introduce me to him. “I instantly felt a crush on Nick (I was 14 so it was a crush). The two of them finally exchanged numbers after some communication over AIM and on Facebook. “Our first call lasted three hours and ended at 1 a.m. My parents didn’t know that I was in my bedroom, so I kept it quiet. After months of courting at Starbucks and the mall movie theatre, Nick asked me to become his girlfriend on May 30, 2008.

Danielle fell in love 11 years later while on vacation in Santa Barbara. Danielle reveals that Nick contacted her about the ring after we left. He flew back to California for work a month later and drove eight hours round trip to purchase the ring. Nick proposed to his wife while they were looking out over the Manhattan skyline, from their deck in New Jersey. She reminisces about the moment she realized that it was the ring she had seen from the window technology when he proposed.

“I wanted a black and white, romantic relationship affair. Traditional style is my favorite, but I wanted something modern. Danielle shares that there was a lot acrylic and velvet in the design. Penn and Paperie designed the modern invitation suite. It also included a custom velvet sleeves.

Nick wore a classic black tuxedo and loafers, which he accessorized with the watch Danielle gave him as his wedding gift.

Danielle says that she had a Pronovias dress before she had a wedding date. “I thought I would wear something traditional even though I am very sparkly and not subtle. It felt perfect for me as soon as I tried it on.”

Danielle wanted to look “glamorous but still soft” for her beauty look. For the ceremony, she opted for long, brushed-out waves and then transitioned to a more relaxed half-up/half-down look at the reception.

Gabrielle Wile

Gabrielle Wile, her floral designer, shared that the bridal bouquet was a beautiful expression of Danielle’s elegant and modern style. It also featured some of the best white flowers we could find. “The design story of Music-filled wedding timeless and classic bridal beauty was told by the use of romantic, high-petal count flowers like Princess Mayuki roses, Clooney ranunculus and fragrant Japanese sweet peas.

The bride shares that she loves the look of a veil and wanted to wear it all night. This is a tradition that my mom started and my sisters followed. For the ceremony, I wore a cathedral-length veil, which I then changed to a shorter, sparkly veil at the reception.

Danielle knew that she always wanted her bridesmaids in black but she let them decide on the dress. She explains that she hosted a bridesmaids brunch at her apartment, where all the girls came over. “I rented a lot of dresses from a local shop in styles I love and we had a great time.” It was a unanimous decision to choose the Bill Levkoff gown we chose, which is quite shocking. It was loved by everyone and they all felt amazing in it.
